Synopsis
What if Maggie and Brick really did have a child? Inspired by Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “Brick Jr” takes place in the same plantation-house bedroom thirty years after the fateful night of Big Daddy Pollitt’s birthday party. As the play opens, it’s Memorial Day and the Pollitt family is preparing to head to the cemetery for their annual ritual of laying flowers on the graves of dearly departed relatives. Brick Jr. has just returned home from a stint in rehab trying to come to terms with the demons of his freewheeling past, and how they are associated with his late father. Maggie, his mother, is determined for him to continue to live his life as it was before rehab so she can continue to exert her control. By evening’s end, Brick Jr. will have to decide whether to break free from his mother’s expectations or continue down a path that may lead to heartbreak and destruction.
